Welcome to the world Jade Meera Burroughs!

Note Tim's very cozy hospital accommodations
Born to be a Big Brother!
Best Delivery Ever: These first several posts are 8 months overdue but it's all still fresh in this sleep-deprived noggin so here we go... The Birth Saga: Jadie was born at 8:01pm at Kaiser Oakland after a 2 hour labor (no exaggerating). Jade had to prove her momma a compulsive worrier by staying in my belly for the entire 9 months (plus one day). Since Jasper was early, my pregnancy with Jade was considered "high-risk" and I saw a fantastic perinatologist - David Walton - throughout the pregnancy. He checked me out every 2-3 weeks, tried to chill me out when I freaked out about how long my cervix was, when I got menstrual-like cramps (a sign of labor), and if the wind blew the wrong direction. His efforts were aided by weekly shots in the butt of progestreone administered by Tim. Man, my butt was sore by the end. All these efforts kept Jadie cooking for 40 weeks! I was home for 4 weeks before my due date thinking that there was no way that I'd make it to term. During those 4 weeks, I watched tons of netflix, took naps, took jasper to school late, picked him up early, and did everything I could to, ironically, get this baby out. We had one false alarm where we called Nana and Nani at 4:30 in the morning to come over. Whoops. Then after I had an appt with the OB where he scheduled me for induction the following week (and stripped my membranes) things started happening. Unfortunately, I didn't fully realize that until we were over the Richmond bridge and heading to Reeti's house for some eggplant parmasean. Ooh, did I get the look of death from Tim. We headed over to Larkspur at commute time - 5:30. As we were passing an endless line of cars, I began to feel a little uncomfortable. Ruh-roh. We got into Reeti's house and I sat down and immediately had a very convincing contraction. It was time to head back. Jasper luckily got to have an unexpected sleepover with his cousins. Yay for him! So we zoomed back - hitting traffic pretty quickly even to the point that Tim drove on the shoulder past some cars. I don't remember the ride much because I was having pretty regular contractions at this point but we did stop at home to get our bag. She Arrives: When we got to the hospital I remember stopping every few yards to stop for a contraction. They were coming on hard. We got up to the L&D floor and into the triage room. The nurse who admitted us joked that she thought for sure we were going to have the baby in the car. Tim, I think, was breathing a sigh of relief at this point that he didn't have to deliver his kid. Phew. So the nurse got me changed, got an IV in me, and asked me if I could get in a wheelchair to get to my delivery room. No way, Jose! I already had to push! They raced me down the hall on the gurney - my water broke somewhere in the hallway - and they rolled me into the room. At that very second, I let out the loudest scream ever (per Tim) and a head popped out onto the gurney. Luckily the doc was in the room and could guide the rest out. And, "It's a girl!" What?!?! A girl! That was beyond awesome. We were convinced it was gonna be a boy throughout the pregnancy. Jasper gets a sister! And she was perfect - 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 22 inches tall born at 8:01pm on November 29, 2012. She quickly got to eating without skipping a beat. We were thrilled!!
